Download Freeway

Freeway is available as a free download for macOS.

System Requirements

macOS: 14.0 (Sonoma) or later
Processor: Apple Silicon or Intel
RAM: 4GB minimum (8GB recommended)
Storage: ~500MB for the app and AI model

Installation

Download the DMG file from the link above
Open the DMG and drag Freeway to your Applications folder
Launch Freeway from Applications
Grant the required permissions when prompted:
- Microphone Access — Required to hear your voice
- Accessibility Access — Required for auto-paste functionality

First Use

Using Freeway is incredibly simple:

Step 1: Press the Hotkey

Press Right Option ⌥ to activate Freeway. A visual indicator will appear showing that Freeway is listening.

Step 2: Speak Naturally

Just talk like you normally would. Freeway uses NVIDIA’s Parakeet model to transcribe your speech with high accuracy. Speak at your natural pace — no need to slow down or enunciate differently.

Step 3: Press Again to Finish

Press Right Option ⌥ again (or wait for automatic silence detection). Your transcribed text will be automatically pasted wherever your cursor is.
